Dividend Update: September 2022

Posted on October 5, 2022October 5, 2022 by Dividend Daddy

Before I get to my Dividend update, I thought I’d share some recent pictures from my trip to Italy this month.

This was my first big overseas trip since COVID-19 and was very nice to feel normal again out traveling in Europe for several weeks away from the grind of my day job.

Photo 1: The view from the hotel in Positano. Beautiful. My personal take on Positano – expensive and overly touristy. I would not rush to go. $30 Euro to sit on a rocky beach? No thanks, I’ll pass. But still beautiful so I’m not complaining 😉

Photo 2: Matera was absolutely beautiful. Less touristy and way more affordable, albeit more of a hassle to get too (they have a train station but no trains – don’t ask). This is an absolute must-go! Check out the opening scene of the latest James Bond movie to see more footage.

My September 2022 dividend total is $4,662.42

This means that in September:

  • I earned $155.41 every day from dividends ($4,662.42 / 30 days).
  • I earned $26.49 per hour from dividends (assuming a 9-5pm job).
  • I earned $6.48 every hour of every day of the month from dividends.
  • My top 3 dividend earners this month were energy/utility related with 39.5% of my monthly dividend total:
    1. Enbridge Inc. ($915.90) – 19.6% of my monthly dividend total
    2. Suncor Energy Inc. ($474.23) – 10.2% of my monthly dividend total
    3. Canadian Utilities ($452.19) – 9.8% of my monthly dividend total
  • I sold my Saputo Inc. stock this month and reinvested the proceeds in stock purchases across my existing portfolio.
  • Including rental property income, my total passive income in September was $5,005.78
  • My equity purchases in September totalled $10,598.72 (I am building a cash bucket for early retirement but finding the current yields on solid dividend growth companies hard to pass up).
